Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Soil conditioners are designed to treat poor soil conditions around the yard, flower beds, shrubs, lawns, gardens, etc. A soil conditioner may help the physical, biological, or nutritional condition of the soil. For instance, it can help bind sandy soils, allow air and water to clay soils, add organic material to depleted soils, and may even add some micro-nutrients depending on the mix. Potting soil is designed for inside the home or in some cases for starting seeds. Potting soil is a stand alone product that does not need anything else. 2. Who certifies your products organic? 3. Is peat moss a soil conditioner? 4. What's the difference between your soil conditioner and peat moss? 5. What sizes do your products come in?

Back to the top. 7. What about peat moss harvesting and the environment? Peat moss is a renewable resource. There are 270,000,000 acres of peat in Canada -- of which only 40,000 acres are being harvested (that's 1 acre out of 6000 acres). That means that only 0.02% of the peat moss areas are being used. Peat moss is growing at a rate 70 times faster than it is being harvested. At this rate of harvesting, our Canadian peat moss resources should not run out and should be able to provide valuable horticultural products for you and your family for generations to come.Sources: "Canadian Peat Harvesting and the Environment," published by the North American Wetlands Conservation Council (Canada), Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association 8.
